How To Ensure That You Never, Ever Win a City Council Seat Ever
Politicians and the Internet go together like chocolate and
carpenter nails. For example, do you remember that time Nancy Pelosi Rick Roll'd America
before painfully explaining what that meant? Well, it seems that Tea Party
enthusiast Jules Manson decided to one-up Pelosi by calling for the
assassination of President Obama on Facebook.
In a moment
of brilliant stupidity, Jules posted a rant laced with both racism and typos in
response to the presumed passing of the 2012 National Defense Authorization
Act. In case you haven't heard, the bill is just a tad controversial due to a
clause in relation to the indefinite detainment of American citizens suspected
of having connections with known terrorist organizations. Like many, Jules was
upset by this and wanted to make his voice heard and chose to do so in what's
probably the worst way possible. The quote is reproduced below, but because I'm
a classy guy I've gone ahead and censored it somewhat, though I've kept the
typo intact because I hope Jules reads it and promptly hires a tutor. Anyway,
here's what Jules had to say:
“Assassinate
the fucken n****r and his monkey children”
The original
post as well as the rant that prompted it are both preserved in full on
FreakOutNation.com.
As one
could imagine, this message was received with mixed enthusiasm. Part of the
problem was that Jules made the post to someone who is an Obama supporter in an
effort to change their mind (I'm guessing, because I clearly don't know how
this guy's brain works). A second part of the problem is that he made this very
public, so that literally anyone with a Facebook account could see his verbal
train wreck as it happened and respond. The final and arguably largest mistake
was calling for the assassination of the President and his children.
Seriously,
was this guy born yesterday? How does that look like a good idea on paper? Did
it look better when he typed it out? Has he never read a history book and
realized that we regularly punish people for doing that sort of shit? There's
literally no reason that this should have happened except that this idiot was
left alone with a computer without supervision.
What makes
this whole situation that much more ridiculous is that he at first tried to
defend his position (not surprisingly) but eventually offered the most bizarre
back-handed apology I think I've ever read: “I have felt deeply regretful and
apologized for my past mistakes. Can you do the same?”
Greater
still than trying to reverse guilt to your critics is that Jules recently ran
for city council in Carson, California. He lost by so much that it may have
caused him actual bruising. But that was before his Facebook oopsie. It's safe
to assume that he'll never be able to run again. The people of Carson can sleep
at peace tonight knowing that one absurdly crazy individual has taken the
unusual step to label himself as such so that society can better recognize and
(hopefully) ignore him.
